Hello! My name is Man Chon U (yea... one letter last name), you can call me Kevin. I am currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Computer Science at The University of Georgia (UGA).
My research interests include Machine Learning, Evolutionary Computation, Artificial Intelligence, Computer & Network Security, and Computational Biology. My major advisor is Professor Khaled Rasheed who is the director of the Evolutionary Computation & Machine Learning (ECML) Lab at UGA.
I have extensive experience in utilizing machine learning techniques to study problems in domains of Cancer Prediction, Malware Detection, Real Time System Scheduler Optimization, Financial Market Prediction, and Gene Classification, etc. Detailed descriptions of my research projects are available at here.
Furthermore, I am the lead developer of the Web-based Noah's Arkive, which is a web-based content management system that allows pathologists to search for desired pathological images. The system is well recognized in the community of veterinary medicine, our customers are not only fellows from academia but also researchers from industry. Moreover, I am also responsible for the development of certain components of the VetView system.
Before joining UGA, I worked at the IT department of Cable & Wireless Communications (LSE: CWC) Macau Branch (CTM) for about two years, my position when I left the company was Senior IT Specialist. During my employment in CTM, I learned a lot about large-scale software systems, gained deeper sight in provisioning areas in telecom, and became sophisticated in Linux/UNIX systems as well as Oracle database. I also learned about how to perform security incident response, investigation, and compliance review, as well as how different security equipments (i.e. IPS, VPN, Firewall, etc.) operate in a worldclass industry. Also, I was responsible for managing all Disaster Recovery Drills in the company, which has helped me develop a thorough insight into project handling. Prior to the employment at CTM, I worked at the headquarter of Webasto AG. as an IT intern, mainly responsible for software development.
My aim is to keep running on the highway of technology, to learn those that I don't know, and to explore those that others don't know. If you feel interest in knowing more about me, please feel free to take a look at my CV/Resume, Research, and Life. You are also welcome to connect with me through LinkedIn or send me an email to discuss any possible collaboration.
