Image: By: Lena Do For both Lily Valdes (BS ’25) and Aries Aviles (BS ’21), their journey to success in computer science began in the UGA School of Computing. As alumni from different years of the program, they understand the challenges that come with entering the ever-changing world of technology and how powerful connections can be along the way. Through the UGA Mentor Program, they discovered how meaningful it can be to connect across generations of computing students. What began as a search for guidance turned into a shared commitment to learning, leadership, and excellence. Their story reflects the collaborative environment of our school, where our students and alumni work together to create opportunities for growth and innovation. For Valdes, it meant finding her voice and building the confidence to lead. For Aviles, it meant seeing his experiences come full circle as he helped another student find her path.
